Gaming on the HP OMEN is like heroin

Its now probaly 15 years since I stopped playing computer games. It was probably at the day I got my driver´s license. Priorities and interests quickly changed. But I remember very well, all these countless nights playing counterstrike or unreal tournament. Spending the weekends at LAN-Parties, being 48 or even 72 hours awake drugged with Red Bull. Endless gaming. Excessive exchanges of movies and music. Jesus, we have stored more movies on our HDDs than we could ever watch in life. Retrospectively, it is really impressive what we have collected since download rates and storage capacities were not even close to what our kids are used today. If police had caught us, we would probably still sit in prison or at least pay penalties for the rest of our lives. Quality did not matter. It was simply cooler to watch the illegal copy of the new Star Wars movie that somebody recorded with his camcorder in a cinema than actually going to cinema. Unbelievable in times of VR or AR where UHD is the least somebody would except.

Back to the topic. Since 15 years I’m clean. No gaming at all. But earlier this week I had an impressive experience in the office. My Computing Sales Colleges did prepare the new HP Omen for a Sales Event next week. They installed Battlefield1 and asked me if I want to test the system.

Boy, I felt like a heroin junky. What the fuck happened or did I miss in past 15 years?
The graphics on this amazing 32 inch screen did blast my mind. The structure and story of the game. Insane. What the hell will my wife say if I buy now a new gaming machine for 3000 or 4000€? If I spend the nights gambling? My sons are still too young to justify a gaming PC as christmas present. Damn, I will miss the opportunity this Black Friday or CyberMonday.

Hope my colleagues will bring this hell of a machine soon back to Office 😂
